We listen, act, and transform
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor graduating from University of Northern Colorado in 2013. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospice, Employee Assistance Programs, and community mental health with clients of all ages. I am passionate about what I do, and I realize the honor it is to be one's therapist. Making the decision to begin therapy can be scary and overwhelming. My hope is to make this process as easy as possible, as I recognize the courage and vulnerability this decision requires.
My approach to counseling includes a variety of modalities and interventions. I am trained in EMDR which is a treatment used for to relieve distress associated with trauma and allow one to view past experiences in a more adaptive way. I am also certified in DBT which provides interventions to teach people how to live in the present moment through mindfulness, develop healthy coping strategies to relieve stress, regulate emotions and improve relationships. I believe a great amount of growth is gained from better understanding the sources of our struggles, and gaining insight to our feelings, thoughts, and body's responses. With this awareness, it empowers the ability to change the patterns in which we are stuck. Therapy can be painful at times, but not as painful as not knowing how to move forward.
